Introduction

From the beginning of the Morales Valley, it is very hard to distinguish Cerro Mirador del Morado from the bigger and better known Cerro Morado. The Mirador stands just before the Morado, between it and the viewer. Both peaks are separated by an ice covered plateau which connects the San Francisco Glacier with the hanging glacier that drops to the Laguna del Morado in the East. This plateau is the logical place from which to attack the South Summit of Cerro Morado.

Mirador seems a conical fang which rises from the surrounding glaciers. From its small summit, an excellent view of both Morado´s summits, North and South, is gained (as its name well suggests).
