Introduction

Cerro Pintor (Painter in english) is one of the main highpoints over the ridge that separates the Yerba Loca valley and the Molina valley, and which ends towards the north at Cerro Plomo (5424m).

Towards the Molina valley, Pintor presents abrupt and coloured cliffs (with greens, reds, oranges and other colors that only an artist could name). The name of the peak is due to this natural "color palette".

The north side has smooth slopes and does not have any major dificulties. It is a traditional peak for trekkers from Santiago, because it enables them to reach in a few hours a good viewpoint from which to contemplate the central cordillera, specially Cerros Leonera and Plomo.
